Hi,

I have a small query related to listener.

Is it possible to have a listener on different server and the database on separate server?

If yes, which setting are required.

Please provide the answer on the above.

Thanks
Harsh

No, it is not possible (assuming database is instance and you are not in RAC).

Hi Michel,

Thanks for the information.

That means it is not possible to have a listener on different server and database on separate server in case of single database instance.

Is it possible in case of RAC? Do we need to use Remote_listener parameter.

Thanks
Gulshan

1/ It is not possible
2/ In RAC you have 1 listener per instance in the same server but listeners interact each other to know where to start the session, if you have configured load balancing and/or fail over.
3/ Remote_listener is for RAC
