Hi

I having all the tables and datas are in Oracle 9i and which is running in linux.

I have the backup in *.tgz file Which we extract through winzip. After extraction it is an dmp file.

Now I having 10g in Windows. I want to import the dmp into 10g.

What are all step to required to achieve this.

My database name is OraAL

Use exp to export and imp to import.

imp expdat.dmp.1507.0813


it asking for password i had
it giving an error.
ora-12560 : TNS adopter error

Of course, you have to properly set your environment (oracle_home, oracle_sid...) as for any other import.

Hi Michel,

Thanks 1st.

My dump file expdat.dmp.1507.0813 (is from oracle 9i(linux))

But now i want to do it in 10g which in my local machine(windows xp).

Sorry i zero in this topic please guide me priefly.

There is nothing special to do.
You just have to correctly set your environment as for any other import.
The only thing you have to do is to tranfert your file in binary mode but as it is a compressed one, you did it otherwise you couldn't decompress it.
