Import data using Oracle Data Pump [message #336696]

Hello experts,

Problem:
I wish to import an entire schema from a remote database (call it remote_db) into my local database (call it local_db). I have a fresh oracle install on local_db. Please provide the steps to accomplish this (leaving nothing out). Please provide all the steps required.

I wish to make a direct connection to remote_db using IMPDP (which I heard does not require a dump file).

Thanks for you response, but I have seen the oracle documentation and it doesn't scratch the surface.

Oracle documentation is good at explaining features but not actual implementation. Their examples are mainly generic.

I am moving data from a remote instance to a local instance. What I need to know is what specific elements must exist on the remote instance and local instance for the migration to be successful??

However, if you understand the problem and have done this in the past, wouldn't it be easier if you just show me how YOU did it???

Oracle documentation is feature rich but toolbox poor. I mean the examples are too generic, not specific enough.

Anacedent,

The purpose of the forum is for people to post problems. If you DO NOT know the answer to a problem why bother to respond??

It would be better for you to keep quiet rather than take up processing time with you ignorance.
