Hi
I have to install a test server for the testing
i have i win2003 server installed oracle 9i and a oracle database
now i installed a new server and oracle
but i dont know how to transfer datase
can you help me
can i do it with "imp" and "exp" command
if i can , write me these commands
wait for your answers

9i Export and Import documentation.

Although I'm not a DBA, I *think* that - if these two servers' databases are exactly the same - you could even do that by copying data, redo log and control files from one server to another. Please, don't trust me - you'd rather wait for someone who knows how to do that (besides export and import, which will do the job).

On Source Database
1. Take Cold backup of database
On Target Database
2. Restore that COLD backup and open your database.

If you can shutdown then you can use HOT backup method.

In hot backup you can use User Managed Method or RMAN.
You have one more option is "RMAN DUPLICATE".

If database is small then just use EXPORT/IMPORT.

Search on this forums for details of above options.

i cant search about your topic
i take a bckup with
imp system/manager file=..... full=y
when importing , i cant successfully restored

ORA-01119: error in creating database file 'D:\ORADB\IFS2004\IFSAPP_DATA.DBF'
ORA-27040: skgfrcre: create error, unable to create file
OSD-04002: unable to open file
O/S-Error: (OS 3) The system cannot find the path specified.

D Drive is exist in your file system? Fix the O/S problem then import will work.
