I am using SQL*Net 2.3 with listener configured on port 1521/tcp.

I am also using SUN Screen SPF200G (As a fire wall) at the gate way to the out side world.

I have found that the Listener users a port other than 1521 and this is giving me problems. I have defined only 1521 on the Firewall. I see the listener dynamically allocating port and as a result of this some times the clients who are out side the protected network cannot connect to the database.

Can some one help me???

Thank you.

look for tnsnames.ora and listener.ora file. by default it have port 1521 and 1526. If you want to use 1521 only remove the 1526 statement

Hi, I am having some problems with my firewall as well. I can't help you, but if you found an answer, I would appreciate it if you could pass it along. You can send me email if you like, that would be easiest for me.

Thanks either way,
