I'm new to Net8

Set up Oracle server with 8.0.4

Decided that since the client will have lots of servers Oracle Names looked like a good option.

Set the service to start on the NT4 server.

Installed my first client for application only from the Enterprise edition CD. Used Easy this and that to set TCP/IP etc (had already put oranamesrvr0 in the DNS)

Found a button that said 'Stop Name Server' so I pressed it, and was somewhat surprised when the the name server stopped without any administrative rights or passwords.

Am I missing something or is this a security flaw?

I asked the client to log a support call, but they will take a while to get contract in place etc. The support call number in the booklet appears to be several years out of date according to BT - sic
