We have some Oracle8 databases on several IBM RS/6000. At one site the connect time to establish a session is much longer than all the others. On the same machine is also an Oracle7 database with an seperate listener. There, the connect time is OK.
Has someone an idea?

What Oracle service resolution do you use on clients? Check your sqlnet.ora parameter names.directory_path = (tnsnames, onames, hostname). This is default search path on the client machine when resolving the service name if not specified otherwise.
