I have to make a recommendation to our parent company or whether or not we should go with Oracle 8i on NT or Linux. Personally I believe it should be NT (which is what we are using at our own division) but they are leaning towards Linux, even though they do not have anyone on staff to support it.
Is there anyone who has had experience in both who can help strengthen my recommendation for Oracle? If you have any personal experience with both systems, or know why one may be a better choice than the other, I would really like to get your input. You can email me at amber@kiit.edu.pk
Thanks for any and all help.
Amber Fatima .

You will get better performance, easier remote maintenance (using telnet) and increased stability using a UNIX like O/S. I ran 8.0.4 on LINUX and it ran great. It never crashed. Easy remote maintenance is a HUGE plus.
