I have just started working with Oracle on a new project. We are trying to make our minds up on which platform to run Oracle on. We have a preference for NT over UNIX since we already have experience with NT and none in UNIX. The problem is I keep getting conflicting reports on which road to take.

On the one hand UNIX is very reliable and robust as well as been around for a long time while on the other hand NT is what we have experience of but are wary of performance issues down the line as well as security.

If anybody could shed some light on the aforementioed or supply us with another good oracle site I would be very grateful.

Thanking you in advance.

Hi,
Mainly on NT,Virus problem is there which is not in UNIX platform, otherwise u can go on any o/s. One advantage in NT i.e. u have good GUI tools for DBA activities but u can access these tools from UNIX platform also by using SQL*NET. If ur db is very large then u go for UNIX platform.
Still U like to think more.
