What do you mean EXACTLY?
You can't use listener 10g with Oracle home 9i.
You can listen 9i database with 10g listener, no difference than with 10g database.

inorder to listen oracle9i database with oracle 10g listener, we need to configure the listener right? how we can do that? thanks

In the same way you listen for 10g database, edit listener.ora.
