Hi
i need to connect to a remote database located on a different server using sqlplus without using database name in connect string.

e.g. if mydb1 (located on another database server on network)

sqlplus username/password

is it possible? i am able to do this on local database but not on the remote database

OK, I had forgotten about TWO_TASK
I'm getting old & senile.

When you get older, the memory is the 2nd faculty that fails & I don't remember which is the 1st

Doh! didn't see the version.
Of course, it doesn't, was introduced in 10.1
