Hi All,

I've below questions about my raised topic.

1. How would I know whether I'm running Shared Server or Dedicated Server?
2. How to configure Shared Server?
3. How to configure Dedicated Server?
4. How Can I use both these connection types with one database?
I mean one session with dedicated and one with shared at the same time.

Thanks & Regards
Manoj

It would be helpful if you followed Posting Guidelines - http://www.orafaq.com/forum/t/88153/0/

This really is a FAQ & GOOGLE is your friend!
The client specifies/decides whether to make dedicated or shared connection to DB Server.

To be fair, I don't think there is a description of how to set up shared server in the docs, certainly not in the Concepts Guide. The Net Services Adminstration Guide gives a description of the theory http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/network.112/e10836/net_arch.htm#i1046119 but no hint of how to configure it.
Manoj, you need to reat Net Services Admin Guide (all of it) and then go to the Reference http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e25513/toc.htm and read up on the parameters shared_servers and dispatchers and the views v$shared_server, v$dispatcher, v$shared_server_monitor, v$circuit, v$session and a few others. You'll be able to work out the join columns. You also need to read at least this http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/network.112/e10835/tnsnames.htm#i454847 from the Net Reference.

To set up, no, but to explain what it is, yes (chapter 9, Process Architecture, in 10.2 doc) with links to how to set it.
