Hi,

Im planning to install OID.

I will use it for Oracle Net name resolution and Enterprise User Security.

How is this product licensed? Is it included in a enterprise rdbms license?

regards
H

My understanding of this (which may be wrong) is that OID is included in your DB licence if you use it for only name resolution. This is because the old Oracle Name Server is not longer supported. But if you want to set up Enterprise Users, you would have to buy various Application Server Enterprise Edition Identity Management options, plus the Advanced Security Option (which is on top of EE) for every database that uses it. The situation is different if you are using an application, such as EBS, that comes with an embedded licence. The whole Identity Management licencing is quite complicated, and the move to Weblogic doesn't make it easier.

Best to check with the Oracle sales droids,

No, you have to purchase ASO (Advanced Security Option).

[Ooops, seems our proxy kept my answer a quite long time.]
