Hi,

I am facing problem with generating postscript output. I tried below command to run my rdf however the out is generated as normal text format.

/opt/oracle/product/8.1.7/bin/rwrun60c /opt/pcsys/pcwau/fvos/rep/fvos750r.rdf mode=BITMAP destype=FILE desname=/tmp/WAUXPRINT12418.ps desformat=psport batch=YES paramform=NO userid=SUPPORT/CITADEL4 P_VRPT_NUMMER_OORSPRONG=584 P_VRPT_NUMMER_BESTEMMING=5902 P_VOLGNR_LEVERING=87

My RDF contains a barcode field (code128.ttf font file) and it's character mode report and i wish to send output of my report directly to the printer. It's working and I can get the paper output of my report but the barcode field shows junk characters which is undesired.

I have done below changes on my unix server:

1.Renamed code128.ttf to Code128 and placed it at /opt/oracle/product/developer/guicommon6/tk60/admin/AFM directory
2.Added *Font Code128: Standard "(1.20)" Standard ROM to /opt/oracle/product/developer/guicommon6/tk60/admin/PPD/default.ppd

If I convert the report in bitmap mode and try to preview on screen, then the BARCODE is visible correctly and can also be printed exactly same as it's visible on screen. I am currently using this as a work-around but I need structural fix so that i can directly send print on printer with correct barcode visible on paper.

Can anyone have any clue what is going wrong or what am I missing?

I don't think that you can correctly display barcode on a character mode report; as you noticed, it works OK in bitmap mode.

Yes and that's the reason i am looking for converting report output to postscript and from postscript to PDF.

Then i can print PDF file directly on printer, that's what i think.

Why don't you directly create a PDF output, then?

That's unfortunately not possible. When i tried, a .pdf file was generated but i was not able to view it in Adobe reader. Adobe reader could not recognize the format.

I can't tell whether it is due to an ancient Reports version you use (Reports 2.5; I've never used that version, I don't have it so I can't test it myself). Did you consider upgrading to a higher version (at least 6i, which is the last client-server version)? Because, I *know* that these PDFs are normally opened by Adobe Acrobat Reader.
