Hello

Please refer Note "GoldenGate and Character Set Issues (Doc ID 1900380.1)"

It mentions

Quote:

However, one thing you need consider is that WE8ISO8859P1 is a superset of AL32UTF8. There will be no problems replicating from WE8ISO8859P1 into AL32UTF8 . However, there will be problems when doing the opposite, as there are characters in AL32UTF8 that don't exist in WE8ISO8859P1

My query is, if WE8ISO8859P1 is the superset of AL32UTF8, in fact there might be problem in replicating from WE8ISO8859P1 into AL32UTF8; As AL32UTF8 might not have some characters which WE8ISO8859P1 do have!

And Suppose if my understanding is wrong then as per the Metalink note I shall not get following warning I am getting now

Quote:

WARNING OGG-03504 NLS_LANG character set AL32UTF8 on the target is different from the source database character set WE8MSWIN1252. Replication may not be valid if the source data has an incompatible character for the target NLS_LANG character set

Thanks and Regards
Chetan
