Hello,

I am thinking of upgrading my 8.1.7 oracle installation and I was wondering ehther that would mean upgrading my 8.1.7 oracle clients as well or there is backwards compatibility?

Oracle DB in RedHat while clients in Windows mostly..

sir,

if you use the client of 8.1.7 for 9i database,you can't utillise the advantage of 9i features.
