what is the differecce between Oracle SID and SERVICE_NAME and which one better to use in tnsnames.ora.

Hi,

A SERVICE is a nicer looking name than a SID. Besides, you want to be in a position to change the SID, or move the SERVICE to a different SID without your users knowing it. A SERVICE also allows users to connect to a set of instances when using RAC.
