I am a newbie but have been tasked with determining the best replication scenario for our company. We are currently running Multi-Master but are looking at switching to a Master-Standby setup.

In a master-standby is there any lag time in failing over to the standby system?
Is any manual interaction required?
Will the Master take back over automatically when it becomes available?
Are changes replicated back to the master before it takes back over from a failover?

These are the type of things I will need to know and any other insight that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Rich
