Hi All,

Briefing about the situation:
When we are trying to connect FROM TOAD to a Database instance (A1) with valid Username/Password we are getting
" ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name ". But we are able to connect to the same instance (A1) via the sqlplusw.exe.

We checked the tnsnames.ora, but could not find much what is causing this error?

Can someone guide us where is the error coming ?

I am myself not a TOAD user.
May be TOAD is using a different Tnsnames.ora ( as many oracle clients do).
Check the connection entries.

thanks for the reply,

we tried changing the tnsnames.ora with another one to check whether TOAD is referring a different tnsnames, but it is referring the correct one.

The question here is when we connect via sql plus it goes through but why not with TOAD?

and also do anyone exactly know how to find which tnsnames is TOAD referring?

And by the way forgot to mention when we did TNSPing to this instance it went through successfully.

TOAD is defintly using the same tnsnames(if you are using the tnsnames editor from TOAD you will see that)

Have you tried the quest support, the are very quick in reply
