Thank u for ur reply.,
There's a need to do so.,
can i use more than one file name in file parameter of imp command ? like "imp username/passwd file=file1.dmp,file2.dmp" where 'file1.dmp' and 'file2.dmp' are created at different times.

Thnk u.,

Perhaps you'd be interested in reading Export and Import Utilities guide. It describes all you ever wanted to know about them (including syntax and parameters one can use).

Thnk u.,
I look at the Link provided by u for export and import.

When i tried to import two dmp files using the below command, it shows an error. Here 'test1.dmp' and 'test2.dmp' are created using two different exports separately.

imp username/passwd file=test1.dmp,test2.dmp fromuser=test1 touser=test2 log=test.log
import done in WE8MSWIN1252 character set and AL16UTF16 NCHAR character set
IMP-00085: multiple input files specified for unbounded export file
IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully

Can't i import the dumps at a time created by different exports ?

Thnk u.,
Deepak.C

Not possible.
Multiple input files for imp will work only if the dumps where created using the same exp process (using FILESIZE/FILE).

Can't i import the dumps at a time created by different exports ?

hi, we also help up with multiple sequential dump files. but we used comma separated files. it is working fine. we have 55 dump files in our hand.

>>Can't i import the dumps at a time created by different exports ?
huh?
Please rephrase the question.
Do you mean to say, merge dumpfiles created by different export sessions? If so, read the posts above.

Is that a question, or an answer or just a statement?
You mean CSV files? Then look into SQL*Loader or external tables.

no, apology for confusion!
actually we tried with 55 *.dmp files, and we succeeded with giving "imp username/password file=file1,file2,file3."

Ofcourse,
that works. It is the supported method. You are importing dumpfiles created from a session. This year and half old topic is about merging dump files created in different sessions.
