I have a 9i Oracle RAC database that does not use CRS or ASM and I want to re-create the database and the data on 10.2.0.3 database that DOES use CRS and ASM

Is there a way of doing this using RMAN. I don't know how to squirt data from a database that does not use ASM into a database that does.

The 9i database uses SUN cluster, the 10gR2 DB uses Oracle CRS

Many thanks for any help

Thank you for that. Will it be compatible with 9i though?

What kind of (in)compatibility do you have in mind?
Of course upgrading to another major version is a matter of tests and tests and tests.

I had planned to re-create the database using the create scripts and then just use RMAN to restore the data.

Template is more efficent and easy way of migrating from non rac to rac databases. But becareful when you gonna make template it startup your database in mount stage.
