Hi!
I've got some questions about using AQ to transfer Data between Oracle and MS SQL Server (and vice versa).
That's the setup:
2 DBMS, 2 Applications (the same)

Oracle 9i/10g.............MS SQL Server 2000/2005
.......|...............................|............
.......|<--------- data --------->|............
.......|...............................|............
Application......................Application........

1) Is it possible to realize this scenario using AQ?
2) I'm a bit confused. AQ is part of Oracle Streams; Oracle Streams are only available in the Enterprise Edition. But some pages say, that AQ is available in the Express Edition...is that true?

perhaps you guys can help me out Embarassed
thanks in advance!!

What I know is that

Oracle Streams are only available in the Enterprise Edition.

>True.

But some pages say, that AQ is available in the Express Edition.

>true.AQ is integrated with database.

Hey Arju! Thanks for your clarification!

Who told you that?

I've read it at wikipedia
"As of Oracle release 10.1, AQ is integrated into Oracle Streams, and is called "Oracle Streams AQ"."
This line caused some irritation Smile

As for my scenario, do you think i could realize it that way? Is this possible only with AQ?
I mean, the data has to be copied in both directions (Oracle->SQL Server, SQL Server->Oracle)...
what do you think?

As far as i have seen it could be possible to realize this scenario using AQ, Oracle Gateway and MSMQ (as Message Queue System on the MS Side)

Oracle 9i/10g.............MS SQL Server 2000/2005
.......|............Oracle................|............
.......|<---AQ--> Messaging <--MSMQ--->|............
.......|...........Gateway.............|............
Application......................Application........

But I'm not sure if the Oracle Messaging Gateway supports MSMQ.It supports IBM Websphere and TIB/Rendezvous, but what is with MSMQ??
Does somebody know that??

thanks

edit: I just realized that OracleMessagingGateway is not available in the Express edition Confused
Do you have any ideas for making a bridge between AQ and MSMQ ?? Confused
