Hello All,

I'm trying to create a database using dbca on my Linux machine , but when I configured all the parameters and finally when I click on FINISH, it opens a small window and throws me an error that

cannot create directory "/oraeng/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/admin/orcl/adump"

I'm trying this many a times but getting the same error .

Not knowing what to do.

Kindly help me out.

Regards,
Raj

Check the permission on the specified directory and for which reason you created adump directory?

Its not a problem of permissions or else the error message must have been :Pemission denied.

Hello Raj, I am having similar problem as you however I am running Vista and get the cannot create directory error. I found your query while during a google search for some answers to this problem. I wanted to find out if you have resolved the problem.

Thanks

Right click on the "CMD" before opening the command prompt and

Click on "RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR" so the command prompt opened with Full Administrator privileges

Call the "DBCA" assist by typing DBCA in this command window

The database creator assistant opens, and everything after this step goes very well.

I got this solution from this link here -- http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11150786/unable-to-create-database-using-dbca

It worked for me, on Windows 7

On Unix/Linux platform? I doubt this will work but thanks to provide the original article.
